Spring and Fall Goes Freelance

The personal Personal Home Page
Yes, I know this is probably the simplest homepage you'll find on the web and you're probably thinking 'Need I have bothered?' I hey, lets face it, you're probably right.

It my first effort, and even I am the first to admit it isn't so great.

But don't run away yet.

It's mostly here to serve an important purpose.

A quick scan down the page will show that you ... yes you ... could be a helpful citizen.

So if you came here because a search engine offered this page because of your home town in the north west of England, or you typed Danny Baker, or Shakespeare - STAY TUNED ...

But before we get to that, lets have a few introductions ... I'm Stuart Burns.

I'm a 6ft guy from Liverpool (yes the one with The Beatles for all those reading from America).

I'm nearly 24, and my current job title is Freelance Art Researcher.

Which I know sounds a bit made up, but it saves a lot of time when I introduce myself to people at parties.

And since this is already sounding like a personal ad, I might as well tell you that my interests are Movies, Fine Arts, the quirky end of the music market.

Alright, now that of that is over with, on with the reasons we are all hear today ...

Public Monuments and Sculpture
The Public Monuments and Sculpture Association is currently running an extremely important survey to catalogue every example of a public monument or sculpture in Britain which has some artistic merit.

It is important, because the majority of the pieces have not been brought together in any kind of accademic way before, and need to be recorded before they disappear through natural or human damage.

It is often difficult work at times, because very often a piece is commissioned by a local authority or large company, and after the unveiling, forgotten about.

The Liverpool volume of the survey has already been published ('Public sculpture in Liverpool' by Terry Cavannagh' from Liverpool University Press, which is a fantasic resource if you are from the local area), and Birmingham is due to follow.

Here now, is were you come in (still with me?) Our main area of research is currently The Wirral and Parts of Cheshire. Which is an expansive area. Whilst it is quite easy to spot pieces in the larger city centre, it is more difficult in the outskirts.

What would really be useful, if anyone living in the below areas, or surrounding places, could let me know about anything they think I could possibly be interested in.

I am looking for anything which you think could possibly be considered to be artistic. Statues, monuments, memorials.

This isn't necessarily a matter of personal taste ... one person's eye-sore, is some artist's lifes work.

Also, if you happen to have any information about the piece, please let me know, and I'll see if there is anything I need.

Its and important project, and any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Why must the show go on?
My other personal project, is a bit different.

I am trying to amass a collection of stories to do with productions of Shakespere plays, for a furture publication or wed-site.

Listeners to the Danny Baker and Danny Kelly football phone-in show on Talk Radio every Saturday will already be onto the kind of thing I am looking for.

I'm looking for example of really, really, bad acting or directing, of terrible audiences, of putting on the play in extreme circumstances, in bizarre conditions, for unusual reasons.

If you went to see Shakepeare and it made Vogon poetry mild be comparison. If something happened on the way to the theatre or during the performance.

Meeting actors. You get the idea ... all contributions will be answered.

The Internet Movie Database
There isn't really I can say about this which hasn't already been said, except that its really fun to see where the careers of the brat-packers like dear old Molly Ringwald have gone.

Not the Scream 2 web site
Now this, is really cool ...

Yes, Molly even has a web site too, see if you can find it ...
